Philanthropy and volunteerism are the main tenets of LCMA's efforts to build a healthier community.
Over the years, tens of thousands of dollars have been donated to local health and human service community organizations. Generous grants have supported organizations like Friendship Home, St. Monica’s, Voices of Hope, CASA, Clinic with a Heart, Milkworks, American Heart Association, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, Bright Lights, Willie's Underwear Project, and Fitting Futures. Additionally, LCMA has been a major contributor to LCMS Medical Referral Services since its inception to help increase access to medical care.
Charitable and educational funding is made through the LCMS Foundation, a 501(c)(3), the philanthropic arm of LCMA.

2026 LCMA GRANT RECIPIENT
Katherine Elise Gogela, MD Memorial Scholarship Fund
In our second year of hosting the Derby Party, we're making a tradition of providing a grant award to an organization that is making a difference to health in our community.
This year is especially meaningful as it will be made in memory of one of our former LCMA/LCMS members, cherished friend, and caring provider to many of our families, Dr. Kate Gogela. The award will support the Katherine Elise Gogela, MD Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
"Kate loved medicine, and she loved children even more," said her husband, Dr. Steve Gogela. "This endowed fund will provide annual support, in perpetuity, to a senior medical student entering pediatrics, offering meaningful financial support at a pivotal moment in training. It feels like this is a fitting way to extend Kate’s legacy: supporting future pediatricians as they begin careers devoted to caring for children and families."
